Clam Gulch State Recreation Area
This area is famous for the hundreds of thousands of razor clams harvested annually from the sandy beaches adjacent to the State Recreation Area. Visitors May dig clams during any low tide, although an Alaska sportfishing license is required. If you decide to dig, be careful; they are named "razor clams" for good reason! Historic Old Town Kenai
In an effort to maintain a link with its rich cultural heritage, the city of Kenai has preserved some of its oldest, most historic buildings. Located within sight of the visitor center, the Old Town district consists of everything from grand churches to humble log cabins, each of which helps tell the story of the town's growth and development. Kenai National Wildlife Refuge
Originally created as the 1.7 million-acre Kenai National Moose Range in 1941, this refuge now totals nearly 2 million acres, covering much of the western half of the Kenai Peninsula. Containing every type of Alaskan habitat and supporting an enormous amount of wildlife including moose, bears, caribou, eagles, and lynxes, the refuge is visited by more than half a million travelers each year Call (907) 262-7021 for more information.

Peninsula Furs
In 1791, Russian fur traders landed near the mouth of the Kenai River and proceeded to establish a post close to the Dena'ina Athabascan Indian Village, Skitok. Kenai's first white settlement dates to 1791 when Russians, primarily after furs, established Fort St. Nicholas (Nikolaevsk Redoubt) on the bluff overlooking Cook Inlet and the mouth of the Kenai River.
